1/30/2024 0 Comments Peep sight![]() In turn this has increased my confidence to ensure a quick and clean kill during hunting season, as well as moving from 3rd to first place in the tournaments. I’ve been able to improve my ability to hit the x ring during testing. If you use a non-Microsoft mouse, IntelliPoint will probably not work for you. ![]() That was it - these two free applications made my external mouse work and behave how I expected it to behave. Setting mouse acceleration to " Off" actually made mouse movements quite jerky, but setting it to " Like in Windows" worked perfectly. Maybe it was just me, but it actually felt like installing IntelliPoint made tracking acceleration even worse.Īfter a bit more research I downloaded Smooth Mouse application. The bad news was that pointer tracking was still suffering from the acceleration "feature". The software recognised my mouse with no issues and clearing " Enable accelerated scrolling" checkbox restored linear scrolling that I was after. ![]() Since I was using Microsoft mouse, the first thing I tried was Microsoft IntelliPoint mouse software for Mac. Smooze is not completely free, but at $5.87 I would say it's very reasonable. It has some other mouse customisation options, but I have no need for any of that. Accelerated tracking doesn't seem to be an issue anymore, but accelerated scrolling is unfortunately still with us.Īfter a short investigation, I found a little utility called Smooze which does exactly what I needed (disable accelerated schooling). I had to revisit the same topic on macOS Catalina (10.15) and unfortunately, neither Microsoft IntelliPoint nor Smooth Mouse were kept up to date with support for modern versions of macOS. 1/30/2024 0 Comments Cold mountain![]() ![]() “We are expecting thunderstorms,” Kittell said, with the greatest likelihood late Wednesday into Thursday. (Nothing I can’t quickly clean up, but annoying nonetheless.) I’ve had some problems with garbled docs when I go from AbiWord to Office and vice versa. I also have it as a backup on my OS X computers. I found the AbiWord review to be pretty dead on - and AbiWord is the wordprocessor of choice on my Xubuntu system. I didn’t mean to do that–I just meant to type a reply agreeing with you. Wow, I just typed a mini-review of WordPerfect. I’m not all that fond of OO.o because it seems to try to mimick MS Word too much, and I use WP because I don’t like MS Word. OO.o converts ODF to WPD (and vice versa) very well. I keep OO.o around for when I need to work with Cyrillic, Japanese, and ODF documents. My only complaints with WordPerfect’re the lack of Unicode and ODF support. MS Word was no doubt what they learned in school. All of the other students that “hated” WordPerfect switched to MS Word mode and were happy campers. When I had a summer job at a big law firm, they used WordPerfect 12 (I think–it could have been 11). If you don’t like the interface, you can always switch to MS Word mode in the workspace manager. Frankly, to me, WordPerfect’s help file sucks (and the “HTML Help” in WordPerfect X3 isn’t much better than the older help files), but it’s not too big of a deal for me because I don’t use it often. I find myself reaching for the help files a lot in MS Word and OO.o, but very seldom in WordPerfect. To me, it seems everything in WordPerfect is presented very intuitively and works exactly like you’d expect it to–but that could be because I was “raised” on WP. Sure, you can do that in other word processors, but it’s a lot easier and more intuitive in WordPerfect. “Make it Fit” and “Keep Text Together” are probably my next favorite features. I pretty much could not use MS Word until they introduced that reveal-codes-like feature in Word XP. WP on Windows has the best automatic text kerning I’ve seen in a word processor (although it looks nasty on screen at first, until you get used to it). We actually learned WP instead of MS Word.) Hell, I still fire up WP 5.1 DOS when I want to get some “real” work done, namely creative writing. (And I’m only 21 years old we used it in elementary, middle, and high school. I’m not trying to bash OOo as I keep it around for some features that WordPerfect doesn’t have, but overall I just find it hard to use and lacking in areas I’m use to. If somebody would come along and make a better WordPerfect (including Reveal Codes) I would switch, but OpenOffice definitely isn’t it. According to the many reports I’ve read or heard it would take a complete rewrite of WordPerfect to have real Unicode support and Corel doesn’t have the man power to do it. I can’t say that it’s 100%, but as a WordPerfect user I thought the WordPerfect review was very good.Īs for Unicode support in WordPerfect. However, it never fails that when people decide to compare office programs WordPerfect is always left out. It was nice to finally see WordPerfect compared to Office and OpenOffice.Īs a WordPerfect user I always feel like the black sheep of the office users, but I still think it’s better than Office or OpenOffice. 1/30/2024 0 Comments Easy to understand![]() ![]() It is, overall, an enjoyable and relaxing way to learn English without any stress whatsoever. However, previous ex situ studies on foreign bodies demonstrated significantly different CT numbers between copper or brass (a copper-zinc alloy) specimens and lead specimens at a single energy of 130 kVp thus, the DEI method might be superfluous for the distinction between copper and lead bullets. Therefore, this DEI method is feasible using any standard CT scanner, but it causes additional radiation exposure. Repeated single-energy CT scans at different energy levels were performed instead of actual dual-energy CT scans, since only single-energy CT scans allowed for reconstructions that enabled CT number measurements beyond the standard range of HU values. Calculation of a bullet’s dual-energy index (DEI) from CT numbers measured at two different energy levels (dual-energy) was recently presented as a robust method for distinction between intact bullets composed of copper (and zinc) and those composed of lead, which were manually inserted into animal cadaver models. The x-ray attenuation of a material can be measured as CT numbers (Hounsfield unit (HU) values) within a defined region of interest (ROI) including several pixels/voxels. Therefore, a method that is less dependent on the intactness of a lodged bullet is desired.ĭual-energy-based material differentiation of bullets using clinical CT scanners was assessed in ex situ, animal cadaver, and phantom studies. The authors of these studies concluded that visual assessments and caliber measurements on CT are often impeded or infeasible since lodged bullets are frequently heavily deformed or fragmented. The feasibility of visual assessment or caliber measurement of lodged bullets using CT was assessed on real shooting victims in postmortem studies. The in situ identification of a bullet can be particularly interesting in forensic investigations when a lodged bullet will not be removed from the patient, for example, to avoid the risk of neural damage due to an intervention. Ballistic experts examine bullets secured at a crime scene or removed from a body, and laboratory analysis of the deposits from an entrance wound can provide information on the bullet used. Computed tomography (CT) allows identification of the location of a lodged projectile and detection of gunshot residues indicating a contact shot. |
